HAMPTON-Ray Crandall, 82, of Hampton died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at the Hampton Health Care Center. Funeral services are Thursday, Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Hampton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Ray was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Dows, the son of Oscar Lorenzo and Sarah Jane (Parks) Crandall. He attended Franklin County country schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Nov. 30, 1945, he was united in marriage with Lucille Peyton at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Ray worked as a finish carpenter in the Hampton area, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church, the Hampton American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Ray enjoyed gardening, cribbage, cards, woodworking and walking with his wife, Lucille.

Survivors include two sons, Chuck and wife Normal Sweet of Norman, Okla. and Mike Crandall of Fort Dodge; daughter Jean Wolfe and husband Steven of Coralville; daughter-in-law Cheryl Crandall of Hampton; and nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and seven brothers, Harold, Leonard, Lew, Everett, Lyle, Bill and Fred Crandall.
