Earlene Krueger, 89, formerly of Austin, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at the Bigfork Valley Nursing Home in Bigfork. Earlene was born in Goldfield, Iowa, on Jan. 17, 1915, and was the only child of Earl R. and Florence M. (Jackson) Pardun. She was raised in Worthington, Minn. As a teen, she was a gifted soprano who often sang with her father in the Gospel concerts in northern Iowa and southwestern Minnesota. Her father traveled and sang at Billie Sundy crusades. Earlene was confirmed and baptized on April 1, 1928, at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Worthington. The church later bacame the First United Methodist Church of Worthington. In 1937, Earlene was united in marriage to Erwin F. "Whitey" Krueger. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1992. They owned and operated Krueger's Photographic Studio in Austin from 1946 to 1978. Earlene was a dedicated mom and was always there for her children, Marlene and William. Her hobbies included attending baseball games, going for family car rides, going to drive-in restaurants, picnics at Todd Park, sewing, and playing Canasta. She has resided in care centers in St. Paul and Bigfork since 1994.
Survivors include a daughter: Marlene Rae (Brian) Johnson, Effie; son, William (Donna) Krueger, Maple Grove; four grandchildren: Michelle, Shaun, Chad, and Kimberly; five great grandchildren: Kaylee, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Thomas, and Benjamin. Private services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Mayer Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mayer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
