Vance Curtis Nelson was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Curtis U. and Ida C. (Askvig) Nelson. He was raised and educated in Goldfield, graduating from Goldfield High School in 1962. Vance attended and played football at the University of Northern Iowa. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 2, 2006, 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Stan Peterson of Samuel Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 8 p.m., at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
