Audrey Anne (Myers) Baker, 89, of Schuyler, Nebraska died Dec. 18, 2002, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler. Audrey was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Wright County, Iowa, to Jack and Emma (Matern) Sherman. After graduating from high school she continued her education and worked in St. Louis during WWII as a nurse anesthetist at the Jewish and Missouri Pacific hospitals. After 1946 she worked in the Schuyler and Columbus hospitals. On June 24, 1939, she married Dr. H. D. Myers in Minneapolis. Dr. Myers died July 7, 1977. On Nov. 20, 1993, she married Paul Baker in Schuyler. Audrey was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Altar Society, Civic Club, Extension Club. She was a former Girl Scout leader, first woman board member of the Schuyler Golf Club and first woman lector at the church. She was secretary of the Diocesan Committee and was in charge of lectors at the church.

Audrey is survived by her husband Paul; one daughter, Marilyn (Dr. Robert) Laugen of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, Carney (Kathleen) Sherman and Gerald (Mildred) Sherman, all of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-daughters, including Barbara (Robert) Woodruff of York. She was preceded in death by her first husband, son Ron Myers in 1968, and six sisters.

Services will be Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the Kracl Funeral Chapel with a 3 p.m. Rosary for the Study Club and 7 p.m. for the Parish. Memorials may be given to St. Augustine Catholic Church or the Columbus Area Hospice.
