Miriam "Mimi" Lindell Payne, the daughter of Hilmer and Helen (Martin) Halverson, was born July 8, 1923 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Boone, Ia. Sr. High School. On January 12, 1943, Mimi was united in marriage with John Lindell. John would precede her in death. On July 25, 1998, Mimi was united in marriage with S. Robert Payne in Newton, Ia. Mimi dedicated her life to her family. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and was a 50 year member of P.E.O. and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband: S. Robert Payne of Newton; her two sons, John B. and Nancy Lindell of Stockton, Ca, James A. and Jill Lindell of North Liberty, Ia; her four grandchildren, Joshua Lindell, Donny Alisa Lindell, John Paul Lindell, Kate Lindell; and her sister, Betty Peters of Keokuk, Ia. Mimi died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines. She was preceded in death her first husband, and her sister, Jean McDonald. Friends may greet family on Friday following the Memorial Service at Congregational United Church Of Christ in Newton, Ia. The memorial service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Park Centre or Hospice of Jasper County.
