Molly J. Hanson, 73, of Webster City, lost her 16 year battle with cancer Monday morning, January 15, 2007, surrounded by family at her daughters home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. There will be no burial of the cremains. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Molly Julie Marchal, daughter of Henri and Emma Grandgeorge Marchal was born on October 24, 1933 at Wall Lake Township in Wright County. She graduated from Woolstock High School in 1951. She attended Webster City Junior College, University of Northern Iowa and Drake where she received her teachers certificate. In 1954, she married Howard Hanson. The couple later divorced. She taught in the rural schools and in Woolstock, Eagle Grove, and the Webster City School systems. She had also farmed for several years with her husband then later moved to Webster City where she worked at Leon’s and Carolyns Hallmark until retiring in 2004 due to illness.

Molly is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Ron Stein of Woolstock; grandson, Tony Stein of Lake City; her loving pet, Teddy her cat; and several cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Molly was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City and served as treasurer for the church. She was also very active as a 4-H leader, and in the American Cancer Society. Her activities also included Relay for Life, Hamilton County Democrats, League of Women Voters, and the Hamilton County Fair Foundation. She was named Woman of the Year in 2000 by the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Molly also was a weekly spectator at the local race track. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
