Sylvia I. Anderson, 87, of Waukon, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Waterville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kim Thacker officiating. Burial will be in the Waterville Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Martin's Funeral Home, Waukon.
Sylvia I. Anderson was born Dec. 16, 1908, in Eagle Grove. After her marriage to Leslie P. Anderson on Dec. 10, 1927, in Des Moines, they lived in several Iowa towns, settling in the Waterville-Waukon area in the mid-1930s. Sylvia enjoyed flowers, like to quilt and sew and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed traveling, particularly with her daughter in later years. She was a loyal worker at her church and in its ladies group.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Geilenfeld of Rudd; one brother, Walter and his wife, Winnie Damon of Brighton, Mich.; three sisters, Alta and her husband, Bill Turner of Knoxville, Tenn.; Ione and her husband, Jim Sherlock of Allen Park, Mich., and Myrtle Hawkins of Smithville Flats, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Linda Schaefer of Mason City, and Steve Geilenfeld of San Diego, Calif.
