Sarah Adele Johnson, 87, Belmond, died January 14, 2007 at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond. Services were held Wednesday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Lowell Halvorson officating. Sarah Adele, the daughter of Benjamin and Eva Nina (Reese) Fetrow, was born December 12, 1919 in Belmond. She graduated from Belmond High School and went on to work in clothing stores, Buttrey's in Mason City and Stark's in Clarion. She married Ernest Johnson on July 16, 1950. They lived in town briefly before moving to the family farm. Adele had a natural talent as an artist; she loved to paint. She was an avid bird watcher, and taking care of her family was her life. She was a charter member of both Beta Sigma Phi and Chapter LV, P.E.O.; she was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Kensington Club and the Ladies Aid at St. Olaf.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother Robert Fetrow. Adele is survived by sons George (Barbara) Johnson and Phil (Laurie) Johnson of Belmond; grandchildren Darien Johnson, Brandon (Ariel) Johnson, Tyler Anderson and Jayme Anderson; great grandchild Savanna Shea Johnson; sister Jean McNulty of Des Moines; and brothers George (Betty) Fetrow of Belen, NM and Herb (Jean) Fetrow of Owatanna, MN.
