JOSEPH BRAY DEAD
Passed Away at his Home at Galt Yesterday.— Funeral Serelces (sic) Sunday
Joseph Bray, whose continued illness has been mentioned in these columns from time to time, passed away at his home at Galt at an early hour yesterday morning. He had been in poor health for some three years having at that time suffered a paraletic (sic) stroke, and the end drew nearer and nearer until yesterday morning when he fell asleep to waken on the other shore.
The deceased was born at Wallhurst, England September 28, 1840. At the age of twenty five years he came to America and settled in Blackhawk county, near the town of Waterloo. In 1874 he was married to Miss Alice Beckwith. Eleven children were born to them—six boys and five girls. In 1879 he moved his family to a farm near Clarion where they resided until 1892, when they moved to a farm south of town, and from there to the Glle? Farm west of town and the past three years he has lived with a daughter at Galt.
The life of Father Bray has been well spent. At an early age he left his home and successfully battled with the world and reared a large family. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, and gave up much of his own happiness for the sake of his family.
There are left to mourn eleven children, five grandchildren, and a host of friends. The children are all here to attend the funeral, including Miss Carrie, of Whitten, and Miss Marie of Marshalltown.
The funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at Galt Sunday morning at eleven o’clock, and the remains will be laid to rest in Mount Hope cemetery besides his good wife, who preceeded (sic) her husband to the better land thirteen years ago.
