Orville N. Olson, 81, of Bode, passed away March 10, 2005 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church un Bode. Visiting hours with the family are scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Bode.

Mr. Olson is survived by his wife, Marguerite Olson of Bode; sons, Norman Olson of Bode, and Thomas Olson and wife, Julie of Bode; daughter, Marilyn Carlson and husband, Leland of Stratford, five grandchildren, four sisters; and one brother. Orville Neal Olson, son of Thomas and Dora (Bakke) Olson, was born January 3, 1924 on a farm north of Bode. He received his education in Bode and graduated from Bode High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. On October 5, 1944, he was taken prisoner by the German Infantry in France and was held as a prisoner of War in Germany until his escape on January 31, 1945. Following his eventual return home, Orville was united in marriage to Marguerite Oppedahl on June 1, 1946 at Lake Lutheran Church near Goldfield. The couple resided on their farm near Bode all of their married lives.
