Maria Anna Harbrecht was born June 2nd 1845 at Roduhn, the province of Mecklenburg, Germany. Here her youth was spent and she attended the public school up to the year of confirmation. In 1859 the departed was confirmed in the Lutheran church of her home town. Marie Harbrecht was married to Frederick William Heiden in Sept. 1868. Shortly after their marriage they came to America and for about six months lived at Watertown, Wisconsin, from wich place they removed directly to Wright Co. Iowa, where they made their permanent home. The Lord blessed this union of Mr. and Mrs. Heiden by giving them seven children, four sons and three daughters; five of whom are living and were present at the death of their mother, viz: the daughters, Mrs. August Graber, of Thompson, Iowa and Mrs. Fred Beyer, of Vernon Twp. and the three sons, Earnest, Charles and Herman Heiden, all of Vernon Township.

Mr. F. Heiden died in September 1905 and since then the departed made her home at various times at Webster City and Dows with her children. Her last residence was at Dows. Though always considered a healthy woman, Mrs. Heiden had not been well for some time and when after Christmas she became afflicted with la grippe and complications, her bodily vigor rapidly declined until her life was brought to a close. Truly prepared and in firm faith of the redemption in Christ her Saviour, as whose child she had been received in infancy in Holy Baptism, she was permitted to enter into the rest prepared for the children of God, on Wednesday morning January 19th.
