Marjorie C. Hill, 84, of Belmond, died Wednesday (July 31, 1996) at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Tenold Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Marjorie C. Hill Memorial Fund.

Marjorie Cecil Hill, daughter of Tommie L. and Mayme (Uhr) Thompson, was born on Friday, Dec. 29, 1911, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Marjorie was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. After high school she taught country school near Eagle Grove from 1932-1939. On Aug. 30, 1939, Marjorie married Chester Hill in Grand Rapids, Minn. She and Chet lived on a farm west of Belmond until 1979, and then retired to Belmond. Marge was a member of St. Olaf ALCW and Home Study Club. For the past 28 years, she and Chet have enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Marjorie enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her
family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Chester, of Belmond; son, Tom Hill and his wife, Chryl, of Belmond; daughter, Jane Quinlivan of Owantonna, Minn.; grandchildren, Jarrod and Jonathan Quinlivan of Owatonna, Minn., Robert Hill and his wife, Melissa, of Belmond; Barbara (Hill) Meyer and her husband, Jeff; and great-grandson, Lucas Meyer, of Corwith, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elsie Bowman and brother, Milford Thompson.
