Jim Chambers, 74, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2006, at Tompkins Memorial Health Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 19, at 10:00AM in the chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856. Friends may call after 4:00PM on Monday where there will be a vigil for the deceased at 7:00PM at the funeral home.

Survivors include: children-Lynn Meline of West Des Moines, Nick of Clive, Julie Blaser of Collegeville, PA, and Kristi Chambers of Des Moines, grandchildren: Zach, Nick, Olivia, Michael and Alex, sisters: Margaret McGonegle of Fort Dodge and Mary Moore of Mason City, brothers Ed Chambers of Chicago and Ireland and John Chambers of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Hazella Downing Chambers and his wife Corrine in 1999.

James Chambers was born on November 23, 1932 in Clarion. As a young child he moved with his parents to Fort Dodge. He attended schools here graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1951. Following his education he entered the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Upon receiving his honorable discharge he returned to Fort Dodge. In 1962, he was united in marriage to Corrine Kayser at Sacred Heart Church and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He was employed as an independent flooring installer until his retirement in 1994. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
