Juanita Mae "Pinky" Dippel, 71, of 761 Eighth St., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Sr.; her children, Gary (Vickie) Dippel Jr. of Marion, Cynthia (Mike) McCullough of Cedar Rapids, Terry Dippel of Cedar Rapids and Larry (Vicki Cech) Dippel of Hiawatha; two brothers, Delbert (MaryAnn) Paulsen of Hiawatha and Kenny Paulsen of California; a half brother, Jerry Smith of Minnesota; and two sisters, Faye Thornton of Rhodes and Connie Jo Berhow of Buffalo Center. Also surviving are five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her kitty, Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leonard Paulsen Jr., who died in infancy.

Juanita was born, the daughter of Leonard and Gretchen (Kepley) Paulsen, on Jan. 30, 1935, in Mason City. On Oct. 4, 1953, in Belmond, she was united in marriage to Gary L. Dippel Sr. Nita was employed at Rockwell Collins for several years. She was an avid animal lover and supporter of the Humane Society. Nita enjoyed bowling, working crossword puzzles and collecting salt and pepper shakers, and was a fan of country music. She was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes. She enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and had a great sense of humor. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in Nita's memory.
