Marilyn “Mick” Kay Prather, 52, of Spencer, died Sunday, March 13, 2004 at the Spencer Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spencer. Father Al Grindler officiated at the 1 p.m. service. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer.

Marilyn “Mick” Kay Prather was born May 25, 1951, the daughter of L.T. “Roy” and Jean Marie Miller Menke. Her childhood years were spent in Clarion where she received her early education at St. John’s Catholic Church and graduated from Clarion High School. She then attended Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove, Iowa State University in Ames, and Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota, where she received a teaching degree. Mick taught school in the communities of Newton, Omaha, Nebraska, Britt and Spencer. While living in Spencer, Mick taught at the Spencer High School. Teaching was her passion, as she taught school for over 30 years. In her spare time, Mick collected coca-cola products. On June 20, 1992, Mick married James (Jim) Prather in Spencer.

Mick is survived by her husband, Jim of Spencer; one brother, Mark Menke of Eagan, Minnesota; parents, LT. and Jean Menke of Clarion; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
