Mary Evelyn Deimerly, 81, of Clarion, passed away Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 11th at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion. Father David Beckman will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Clarion. Visitation was Wednesday, March 10th from 5-7 p.m. with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Clarion and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Mary Evelyn Rogerson was born October 8, 1922 in Eagle Grove, the daughter of Thomas and Katherine (Laird) Rogerson. She attended Eagle Grove High School and graduated in 1940. After graduation, Mary attended Secretarial School in Eagle Grove. She worked for the Department of Defense in accounting in Chicago, Illinois, prior to returning to the local area. On February 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to John Francis Deimerly at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. This union was blessed with seven children. Mary was avid at crocheting and knitting, loved crossword puzzles, gardening and fishing. She shared in the farm work with John whenever possible and enjoyed driving the tractor. She also helped raise chickens, cattle and sheep on the family farm. Mary was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, St. Theresa’s Circle and was a board member of the Cancer Society.

Mary is survived by six children: Jerry and wife, Nancy of Cumming; Thomas and wife, Becky of Marshalltown; Kathleen Ahrens and husband, William of Willard, Missouri; Patrick and wife, Kathy of Clarion; Mary Newman and husband, Kevin of Des Moines; Dale and wife, Kim of Clarion; daughter-in-law, Karen of Lakeville, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, John; and sister, Virginia.
