Delilah Bailey, 91, a former Belmond resident, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at the Westview Care Center in Leon, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 8, at the Untied Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Music was provided by Lyn Courson, organist and Marilyn Janssen, soloist. Interment was in the Lincoln Township Cemetery near Zearing, Iowa. Casket bearers were Mark Dorr, Todd Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Scott Anderson, Jerry Bailey and Morris Larson.

Harriet Delilah Bucy, was born on January 9, 1912, at her parents home in Hubbard, the daughter of Isaac and Lillian (Clancy) Bucy. She graduated from the Hubbard High School. She later attended Iowa State College (University) for one year. Delilah married Enlow "Ben" Bailey on December 3, 1932, at her parents home. They lived in Des Moines, 12 years in Fort Dodge and 12 years in Marathon before moving to Belmond, where they lived for 40 years. Delilah and her husband enjoyed the many activities of their children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Marathon and the PEO in Belmond. She and her husband were long time members of the Belmond United Methodist Church where Delilah was active in the UMW. She loved to play bridge, enjoyed reading and was an excellent cook. Delilah and Ben enjoyed traveling. They had been to Mexico on several occasions and to Europe. Following Ben's retirement, they spent nearly 20 years wintering in Kissee Mills, Missouri. Recently Delilah lived for periods of time with both of her daughters and then for the past 2 1/2 years at the care center in Leon.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 67 years; and brother, Dr. Paul C. and Evelyn Bucy. Survivors are her daughters, Diane (Gordie) Anderson of Lake View, Arkansas and Marcia (Wayne) Holder of Leon; grandsons, Scott (Carrie) Anderson, Kevin (Debra) Anderson, Todd (Faith) Anderson and Mark (Tonia) Dorr; step-grandchildren, Steve (Robin) Holder, Scott (Dee) Holder and Spencer (Sharee) Holder; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Chloe Dorr, Nolan and Rosalyn Anderson, Spencer and Riley Diane Anderson, Izaak and Lucas Anderson.
