Cecilia A. McLaughlin Hanson, 67, of Lacey, Washington, formerly of Belmond, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at the Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 25, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond, with Father David Beckman and Deacon Nick Schmit officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery near Belmond. Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m., on Friday, October 24, at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond. There will be a Parish Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Cecilia was the daughter of Edward C. and Vineta Swift McLaughlin of Belmond. She grew up in Pioneer and Gilmore City. In 1953, she married Roger D. Hanson and for the next 26 years they lived in Humboldt, Riverdale, North Dakota, Coulee Dam, Washington and Centralia, Washington. She moved to Olympia in 1979 after her divorce. Cecilia started working for the government in 1977 and worked off and on until her retirement in August of last year. She enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. Cecilia also belonged to several peace and justice groups.

Cecilia is survived by sons, Robert of Atascadero, California and Timothy of Bellingham, Washington; daughters, Debra Lind and Judy Hanson of Olympia; five grandchildren; sister, Frances (Dan) Gilroy of Apple Valley, Minnesota; brothers, Clement (Cheryl) McLaughlin of Belmond and Thomas (Janice) McLaughlin of Troy, Michigan.
