Fred Allen Brinkley, 59, of Belmond, died on Friday, July 11, 2003, at the Belmond Care Center. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 15, at the Dayspring Assembly of God Church in Belmond, with Pastor Mark Pluff officiating. Interment was in the Belmond Cemetery.

Fred was born on February 15, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Calvin and Carley Woody (Brown) Brinkley. He served for a time in the U.S. Navy and worked at various jobs around the country, most recently for Disney in Orlando. He married Melissa Tabor in Florida in 1989. They moved to Belmond in 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister. Survivors include his wife of Belmond; four daughters and two sons (living in the southeastern U.S.); brother-in-law, John (Liz) Tabor of Belmond; nephews, Mitch (Nicole) Tabor and Josh Tabor of Dows; niece, Sarah Tabor of Garner; and many other relatives. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made in Fred's name and mailed to Dayspring Assembly of God.
