Beulah M. Draves, 93, of rural Galt, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Beulah was born on November 7, 1909 near Popejoy, the daughter of Carl and Lena (Keller) Ellingson. She married Harold Draves on August 29, 1927. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Whipple (Leslie) of Belmond; a son, Robert Draves (Karen) of Galt; a brother, Elmer Ellingson (Verdelle) of Alden; a sister, Ardelle Waggoner of Dows; two sisters-in-law, Florence Barz of Belmond and Margaret Bartz of Alexander; 4 granddaughters; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

GALT - Beulah Mary Draves, 93, of rural Galt and Dows, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond, where she had been a resident for seven and a half years. Services were held Friday, Jan. 31, at the First Lutheran Church in Dows with burial in Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Dows. Pastor Paul Thompson officiated.

Beulah was born Nov. 7, 1909, in rural Popejoy-Alden area to Carl and Lena Keller Ellingson. She attended country school near Popejoy and on Aug. 29, 1927, she married Harold Draves at Mason City. She was a farmer's wife all her life, and was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook. Over the years, she and her husband enjoyed spending time watching their granddaughters play softball.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Whipple and husband Leslie of Belmond; a son Robert Draves and wife Karen of Galt; four granddaughters, Debra Vanness of Racine, Wis., Darla Kibsgaard and husband Randy of Clear Lake, Sherri Roberts and husband Larry of Kearney, Neb. and Lori Hain and husband Jeff of Mason City; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; a brother Elmer Ellingson and wife Verdelle of Alden; a sister Ardelle Waggoner of Dows; two sisters-in-law, Florence Barz of Belmond and Margaret Barz of Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold in 1995; a grandson Gail Jenison; and two brothers Alvin and Burnell Ellingson. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements.
