Mildred I. (Slining) Macri, died on Friday, February 11, 2005, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 15, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clive. Mildred Slining was born in Belmond on February 8, 1926, and lived in Des Moines most of her life. She worked in the fashion industry well into her 70s. Survivors include sisters, Janet Thornton of Huxley and Joann Kuester of Belmond; brother, Harry Slining, Jr. of Babbitt, Minnesota; daughter, Marsha (Tim) Stanton of Overland Park, Kansas; and son, Michael Macri, Jr. of Clive.
