Robert Vernon "Pete" Knight, 70, died March 26, 2006 at the International Order of Odd Fellows home in Mason City. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15 at Homestead Assisted Living, 2501 W. State Street, Mason City.

Robert was born in Sioux City on July 10, 1935 to Robinette LaGue and Gerald "Red" Knight. He graduated in from Numa High School in 1953 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955. He later transferred to the U.S. Army where he saw service in Indochina and Korea from 1967 to 1968 and from 1971 to 1972. Robert retired from the Army in 1976 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-Third Class. He earned his BA in business administration from the University of Northern Iowa, and then lived in Waterloo and Marshalltown before receiving his MPA from Iowa State University in 1987. He worked for the State of Iowa Department of Health from 1987 to 1991, as an apartment manager in Des Moines until 1996, and then as a consultant for the Triston Corporation.

Robert is survived by his father; brother Rod (Barb); niece Terri (Bruce); great-nephews Dan and Timothy; great-niece Madeline; and special friends Mike and Laurie. Memorials may be sent to the Rowan Lions Club, 1941 Taylor Avenue, Belmond 50421. Persons wishing to contact the family may do so through Major Erickson Funeral Home.
