Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational church, for Mrs. Blanche Foss, 49, who passed away on Sunday, Christmas eve, at Steele Memorial hospital where she had been hospitalized since October suffering from a heart ailment. Rev. A. B. McKeith officiated at the service and Boone Funeral home was in charge. Burial was in Belmond cemetery. Mrs. Foss was born in Britt on Aug. 7, 1901, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Rohrbach. She grew to young womanhood in Clarion and was a teacher in the Belmond school prior to her marriage to Louis Foss who passed away about five years ago. After his death she taught again in Belmond and a year in Colorado and also in the Alexander schools. She is survived by three children: Richard Foss of Columbus, Neb., Charlotte, Mrs. Henry Winter of Denver, Colo., and Robert Foss, now a corporal in the marine corps and is stationed in California. Two sisters also survive her: Mrs. J. Shkolnick of Centerville and Miss Rosalie Rohrbach of Denver, Colo. Robert's leave from the service was extended so that he was with his mother the last weeks of her illness as were the other children. Mrs. Foss was a member of the Eastern Star lodge and was active in the women's societies of the Congregational church.
