Larry Arthur, 24, Clarion, was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon about 3:15 8 miles rorth of Hampton when the Lindsay Soft Water Truck he was driving was struck by "The Rocket." The engineer reported that Arthur apparently didn't see the train until he realized he could not stop. So he speeded up, but was hit. Larry Arthur was employed by Lindsay Soft Water in Clarion. He had served in
the U. S. Navy. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylen Arthur of Clarion and eight brothers, Alvin, Eldon, Wayne, and Gail of Clarion; Elmer, Leo and Archie of Mason City; and Leland of Belmond and a half sister, Mrs. Edgar D. Scott, Bunceton, Mo., his wife, the former Judy Brandt and his baby daughter, Kim. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery at Clarion. The Eyler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
