Geneva J. Harty, 91, Belmond, died December, 6, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Services were held December 9 at Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond with Pastor Mike Druhl officiating. Burial was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Belmond. Geneva Jean was born December 1, 1915 to William and Anna (Edensen) Oleson in Dows. She attended the Dows Public School. When she was nine years old, she and her mother went to Colorado Springs to visit her two aunts. She enjoyed the mountains. Geneva married Maynard Harty on February 23, 1931 in Belmond, and they had two children. Son Gary married Mary Pederson from Eagle Grove and they had three girls and one boy. Mary died of cancer in 2003. She would help anyone, as sick as she was. Daughter Katherine Jean (Kaye) married Robert Kratky from Illinois who taught school in Belmond. They had two boys and one girl. In 2005 Kaye lost her daughter Klarissa, a school teacher in Des Moines. Robert died in 1994. In 1995 Kaye heard from the man she was to marry, Curtis Mennenga. He had lost his wife, and they were married in 1996. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Maynard; granddaughter Klarissa Schoening; daughter-in-law Mary Harty; four sisters; and an infant brother. Geneva is survived by son Gary of Belmond; daughter Katherine (Curtis) Mennenga; grandchildren Judy Reeder of Eagle Grove, Teresa Platt of Oklahoma, David Harty of Belmond, June (Harvey) Tulp of Goodell, Steve (Karen) Kratky of Ankeny, and Todd Kratky of Ankeny; and eleven great-grandchildren.
