Eric N. Buseman, 61, of West Des Moines and longtime resident, of Belmond, died Saturday (Nov. 25, 2006) at the Mercy Hospice House in Johnston after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services for Eric N. Buseman will be held at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Lutheran Church of Hope, corner of Jordan Creek and Ashford in West Des Moines, with Pastor Caroline Boehnke-Becker officiating.A public visitation will take place from 5 p.m. until time of services at the church. Visitation for Eric in Belmond will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane S. in Belmond.A private family burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery.

Eric Norman Buseman was born on Sept. 11, 1945, in Belmond, the son of Lester and Ida (Steenblock) Buseman. Eric grew up in Belmond, graduating from Belmond High School with the Class of 1963.He farmed in Belmond for many years. He owned a John Deere dealership in Belmond for a time. Eric was an active member of the community, being a volunteer with the Belmond ambulance organization. Eric moved to Des Moines in 1997. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Eric invented different items, holding patents on a number of them. He enjoyed attending dances and playing softball with his team, the Rusty Pipes. Eric attended the Lutheran Church of Hope.Eric's greatest joy was being a father and grandfather.

Eric is survived by four children: Todd (Michelle) of Belmond; Cathy (Ryan) Johnson of Urbandale; Wendy (Brian) Lambert of West Des Moines; and Beth (Josh) Kaiser of Cumming; one brother, Harold (Donna) Buseman of Belmond; companion, Bets Kohnen; six grandchildren: Ashlyn, Alex, Ella, Mya, Evan, and Elise; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Eric is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bev Robbins. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
