Wright County MonitorMrs. Axel Matson, 46, passed away Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran hospital in Ft. Dodge.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church with Rev. C. G.
McKnight officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield. Stella Grace Matson was born in Eagle Grove July 21, 1907, the daughter of Gudman and Julia Jergensen. Surviving are her husband; her mother, and 12 brothers and sisters as follows: Julia Amosson of Eagle Grove, Ben Jergensen of Carthage, MO., Jennie Larsen of Eagle Grove, Jess Jergensen of LuVerne, Grant and James Jergensen of Kanawha, Clarence and Leonard Jergensen of Clarion, Clarice Crum of Des Moines, Bernice Nerem of Renwick, Violet Jergensen and Rosetta Middleton. both of Eagle Grove. Her father passed away in 1931, and a brother, Albert in 1948. Mrs. Matson graduated from the Eagle Grove high school. In early life she was confirmed in the Christian faith and in the membership of Samuel Lutheran church of Eagle Grove. She was married on May 21, 1932 to Axel Matson, a farmer in the in the Evergreen community near Goldfield, where they have lived until January, 1952, when they moved to their present home just outside of Goldfield. Ill health has plagued her, beginning shortly before they moved to Goldfield. Two hectic years have followed, the time being spent between home and hospitals. In July of 1948 she transferred her church membership to her husband's church, the United Presbyterian in Goldfield. She had long been an active member of its Women's Auxiliary and its Ellen McLaughlin Missionary circle. She was active also in the Evergreen Community club work.
