GARNER - Donald E. Beshey, 87, died Saturday (March 6, 1999) at the Concord Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Hooper officiating. Interment will be in Concord Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel.
Donald Earl Beshey, the son of Charles Joseph and Grace Leota (Boughton) Beshey, was born April 7, 1911, at Woolstock. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Woolstock. He attended country school near Woolstock. On Nov. 18, 1933, he was united in marriage to June Adell Lattimer of Algona at the Methodist parsonage at Fort Dodge. They made their home in Woolstock, Webster City and Marble Rock, where Don worked on farms. In 1941, they moved to Eagle Grove, and in 1953, to Britt where he continued to farm. Don retired in 1974 and they moved to Garner. Don and June spent some of the winter months in Georgia and Florida. He enjoyed making wooden toys and things for his family. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Garner.
He is survived by his wife, June, of Garner; three sons, Jerry Beshey and wife, Annette, of Moultrie, Ga.., James Beshey and wife, Jeri, of Glencoe, Minn., and Earl Beshey and wife, Julie, of Garner; two daughters, Connie Richter and husband, Michael, of Britt, and LaVonne Kahl and husband, Robert, of Lake Worth, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Bessie Beshey of Sioux City; two sisters, Shirley Ritz and husband, Phillip, of San Antonio, Texas, and Betty Kopecky and husband, Kenneth, of Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Ada Beshey of Boise, Idaho, and Lola Chamblee and husband, Wayne, of Riggins, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard, 1987; two brothers, Richard and Millard Beshey; and his step-mother, Esther Beshey. Cataldo Funeral Home
