25 January 2000MASON CITY - Emmet Jerome "E.J." Hart, 71, of 323 S. Kentucky Ave., Mason City, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000), while traveling through Missouri. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. with a scriptural service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the E.J. Hart Memorial Fund to be donated to the American Heart Association.
Emmet Jerome Hart was born April 25, 1928 in Eagle Grove, son of John and Tess (Hood) Hart. He married Lorraine "Lorrie" Manguson on July 27, 1957 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. E.J. graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended State Junior College in Eagle Grove. He lived in Iowa Falls for five years where he and his brother operated Firestone Tire and Appliance Store. He then moved to Mason City and managed J & L Tire which is now Bauer Built retiring in 1999. E.J. enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, golfing and drawing. He loved traveling with his wife and spending winters in Texas and Alabama. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1006 of Mason City. E.J. will be remembered for his Irish wit and humor and his love for people.
Survivors include his wife, Lorrie Hart, of Mason City; three children, Emmett L. Hart and his wife, Susan, of Garner, J. Tim Hart and his wife, Miros, of Spring, Texas and Kathy Brinn and her husband, Mark, of West Chester, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Danielle, John, Andrew, Jared, John, Sabrina and Haley; one sister, Sister Theresa Hart, O.P., of Sinsinawa, Wis.; two brothers, Thomas Hart and his wife, Muriel, of Eagle Grove and Patrick Hart and his wife, Paula, of Adel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Eugene, Hubert, Joseph and Larry Hart; and one sister, Kay Broadhurst. Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel
