GOLDFIELD -
Betty Ann Rodriguez, 71, passed away Monday (June 10, 1996) at the Urbandale Health Care Center, Urbandale. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Betty was born on Dec. 17, 1924, in Goldfield, the daughter of George "Dewey" and Mary Miller Beisell. She attended country school in Goldfield. On June 27, 1942, she was united in marriage with Alfonso S. Rodriguez in Bethany, Mo. To this union was born two children, Al S. Jr., and Dew Ann. Betty worked as a secretary for over 25 years at the veterinary clinic in Goldfield, first for Dr. F.H. Kelly, and then for Dr. Jack Stoakes. She also was a dog groomer, her specialty being poodles, running this business until her retirement in 1985. Betty and Al spent their winters in Arizona and their summers in Iowa. She was an avid golfer, bingo player and card player. She was also a barbershop music enthusiast. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church in Goldfield, the Legion Auxiliary and the Oakridge Golf and Country Club. Her pride and joy next to winning a big pot at bingo, beating Al Sr. at a game of cards, or listening to some good barbershop music were her four grandchildren, Rochelle, Kristin, Chad and Scott. They were the love of her life. She was so proud of all their accomplishments. They will miss her love and constant support.

Betty is survived by her husband, Al S. Sr.; her daughter, Dew Ann Elkin and her husband, Ronald, of Tulsa, Okla.; her son, Al S. Jr. and his wife, Jan, of Belmond; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Beisell and his wife, Beulah, of Mesa, Ariz., and Duane Beisell and his wife, Bev, of Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents.
