JOE DIETRICH DIED SUDDENLY WED. MORNING

This Community was shocked to learn of the sudden death Wednesday morning of Joseph Dietrich, 32, farmer living a mile east and a quarter mile south of Popejoy. Mr. Dietrich is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Dietrich, who live on a farm south of Dows. Mr. Dietrich had been ill with virus pneumonia but seemed well along the road to recovery. Wednesday morning about six o’clock he rose and went to the kitchen for a drink of water and while there either became dizzy or slipped and fell, striking his head. He was unconscious when his wife came to his aid and only regained semi-consciousness before he passed away. According to coroners report, cause of death was given as accidental, caused by concussion and cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Dietrich immediately summoned a doctor, but snow and drifted roads prevented him from reaching the farm until the help of the Franklin county snowplow was enlisted. Mr. Dietrich was still alive when the doctor arrived and an ambulance was called in an effort to rush him to a hospital for emergency treatment. He died shortly before the ambulance arrived, at approximately 7:30 am. Funeral services for Mr. Dietrich will be held from the Methodist church at Popejoy, Saturday afternoon at 1:30. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Dows.
