MRS. AMANDA (OLESON) DAVIS AND ANDREW L. (NICK) OLESON

Funeral Services for Mrs. Amanda Davis and Andrew L. (Nick) Oleson, brother and sister, were held on Thursday evening at the Willim funeral Home in Dows. Rev. David A. Anderson, Pastor of First Lutheran Church officiated at the last rites. Mr. Oleson was buried in the Otis Grove Cemetery at Dows on Friday morning and Mrs. Davis was buried in the Clarence Cemetery at Clarence, Iowa on Friday afternoon. She died on December 24, 1974 and he died on December 25, 1974 at the Hampton Nursing Home in Hampton where they had lived for the past two years.

Amanda Davis was born on August 7, 1876 at Dows and Andrew Oleson was born on June 1, 1886 at Dows and they were the children of Ole L. and Anna Marie Hanson Oleson. They were both baptized and confirmed at the old Otis Grove Lutheran Church and spent their early years at Dows. Mrs. Davis operated a millinery shop at Alden and later at Clarence where she was married to Silas M. Davis in 1907. They raised and educated a foster son, Clarence Davis in their home. Mr. Davis died in 1927 and she then returned to Dows where she made her home with her brother. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Clarence.

Mr. Oleson lived in Marmarth, North Dakota for two years and spent the rest of his life farming near Dows.

They are survived by two brothers and one sister, Henry L. (Hank) Oleson of Dows, Louis F. Oleson of Park rapids, Minnesota and Mrs. Tillie Dilley of Hopkins, Minnesota. There are also nieces and nephews. Preceding them in death were their parents, her husband and foster son, 3 brothers and 6 sisters. The Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
