Robert Allen Focht, 91, of Traer, Iowa died Aug. 30, 1998, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. He was born June 1, 1907, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Lawrence and Edna Persons Focht. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended Drake University and in 1931 graduated from Iowa State University. He owned Western Auto in Atlantic, Iowa, before retiring to Springdale. He enjoyed fishing and was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge Pymosa 271 in Atlantic and Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Ganelle M. Galiher Focht and Hope Smith Focht. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Allen Voetberg Focht of Traer; one son, Lawrence Focht of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Frances Benhan of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Mary Elizabeth Burnham of Livermore, Calif.; two stepsons, Allen Voetberg of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Dirk Voetberg of Dubuque, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Rosemary Kersey of Indianola, Iowa, Beverly Phelps of Christianburg, Va., and Eleanor Philp of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Ruth Shanor of King City, Ore., and Helen Focht of Iowa City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Overton Family Funeral Home in Traer. The Rev. Marshall Monthei and Charles Downing will officiate. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Atlantic Cemetery.
