Opal N. Stapleton, 81, of Clinton died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at her home. She was born in Clarion, Iowa, was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church and DeWitt County Home Extension Service. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, raising parakeets and her family. Survivors include her husband, Paul Stapleton; a son, Mitchell Stapleton of Owensboro; a daughter, Mary White of Reddick, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd Howell of Towanda, Ill. Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Johnson Cemetery in DeWitt, Ill. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Clinton United Methodist Church.
