OBITUARY OF MRS. MARGERY LARUE

Mrs. Thomas LaRue passed away on Sunday, August 23, at the home of her son, Charles LaRue at Meservey, Iowa after an illness of several years. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Rev. R. A. Brough having charge of the service. A large congregation of relatives and friends were in attendance. Mrs. C. F. Peterson and Mrs. Leonard Jacobson, accompanied by Mrs. Wesley Damerow, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "God Will Take Care of You". Six of the sons of the deceased, Sam, Jay, Henry, Ernest, Dewey and Lewis acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Margery Ellen Carpenter, daughter of Henry and Phoebe Carpenter, was born April 27, 1864 in Delaware County, Indiana and at two years of age moved with her parents to Richland Co., Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Thomas LaRue July 12, 1870. Three years later they moved to Dows, Iowa. Mrs. LaRue has lived in Dows ever since with the exception of one year in Wisconsin. Her husband passed away Nov. 7, 1927. Mrs. LaRue was the mother of fourteen children and had one adopted child. Three of children preceded her in death, Mrs. Viola Ball, Fay LaRue and Mrs. Meda Lorraine. She is survived by eight sons and four daughters, Sam, Jay, Ernest, Mrs. Hazel Leach, Mrs. Ann Martin, and Flossie of Dows; Charles of Meservey, Iowa; Henry of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; Lester of Shevlin, Minn.; Dewey of Eagle Grove; Lewis of Iowa Falls, and Mrs. Else Steinhard of Hampton; also by two brothers and two sisters; Mr. M. A. Carpenter of Dows; Lee Carpenter of Backus, Minn.; Mrs. Jerold Annett and Mrs. Carol Gray of Black River Falls, Wisc., and by 48 Grandchildren, 29 Great-grandchildren and there are Great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. LaRue was a fine woman and a remarkable woman in many ways. She was a devoted wife and mother, a grand neighbor and a loyal friend. She has passed from this life but leaves a loving memory in many hearts.
