Virginia Marie Balsiger, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006. Mrs. Balsiger was born to Otto and Anna Munn in Clarion, Iowa on March 25, 1916 and was one of five children. She graduated from Grinnell College in 1945 putting herself through school by working at Ammunition Plants during WWII. In 1946, she began working for General Mills in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she was the Producer of the Lone Ranger Radio Show which was broadcasted live. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Roy Balsiger and from that union 2 sons were born. While married to Roy Balsiger, she accompanied him on many of his big game hunts throughout the world. In 1958, her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee and she resided there until 1983 when she moved to El Paso to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. Mrs. Balsiger was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Women's Club of El Paso, the Ladies Auxiliary to the El Paso Rehabilitation Center and was a resident of the Monte Vista Independent Living Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Balsiger who passed away in January 1976. Mrs. Balsiger is survived by her sons, Mark Balsiger, Chris Balsiger and his wife Christy, 4 grandchildren Angela Kahn and her husband Aaron, Joey Balsiger and his wife Heather, Camille and Avery Balsiger, great grandchildren Andrew Balsiger and Emma Balsiger, who will soon greet the world. She is also survived by her sister, Bernice Thompson of Duluth, Minnesota. Vigil will be held Monday, August 28, 2006 at 6:30 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 4:00 P.M. at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Msgr. David Fierro officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 North Resler Drive.
