Earl Peterson, 88, died Thursday of lung cancer. Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, he moved to Silverton in 1960. He was a retired real estate broker. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, belonged to Scottish Rite, Hilah Shrine Temple and was a past exalted ruler of the Silverton Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie, whom he married in 1932 son, Dick of Hallan, Neb. daughter, Judy Duncan of Silverton, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Silverton. Private interment will be at Valley View Cemetery. Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel. Contributions: Silverton Elks Lodge BPOE Youth Fund, in care of the mortuary.
