Adam Varga, a student at the University of Dubuque, formerly of Budapest, Hungary, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, as the result of injuries sustained in an aircraft accident north of Dubuque in Sherrill, Iowa. Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Budapest on Dec. 23. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Locust Street Funeral Home, 1145 Locust St., is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on March 6, 1979, in Hungary, son of John and Elizabeth Varga. Adam was a graduate of Dows (Iowa) Community School and received an associate of art and an associate of science degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. This school year, he was a junior at the University of Dubuque. He was an FAA certified flight instructor and held an FAA certified commercial pilot's license for both single and multiengine rated. He was a flight instructor at the University of Dubuque and was a member of the Hungarian Glider Pilots Association. He also was a member of the Iowa Lakes Community College Flight Team and placed third in the NIFA 1998 competition.

Surviving are his parents, John and Elizabeth Varga, of Budapest; his sisters, Dora and Ezster, of Budapest; his fiancee, Leslee Tromp, of Fontanelle, Iowa; and his American host family, Jay and Betty Hinze, of Dows.
