Dolly Ione Barnes, 97, of Long Lane, Missouri, died Thursday, January 19, 2006. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 23, 2006. Dolly Ione Duffy was born October 4, 1908, in Montrose, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Nettie (Walker) Duffy. As a small child she moved with her family to Rowan where she received her schooling. She attended Cedar Falls Teachers College and taught in rural schools in Iowa. She was united in marriage to Eldon Barnes on April 6, 1932, and they were the parents of five children. They made their home in Wright County, then moved to Long Lane in 1952, where she continued teaching in rural schools. She was a member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church where she held offices in both church and women's organizations. She was a member of the Friends and Neighbors Extension Club, the Quilting Club where she made quilts for all of her family, and also served on the County Fair Board.
Survivors include one son, Charles Barnes and wife, Jeanie of Long Lane, Missouri; two daughters, Barbara Randall and husband, Dean of Long Lane, Missouri and Nancy Kaiser and husband, Glen of Iowa City; one brother, Robert Duffy and wife, Wilma and one sister, Betty Severson, all of Iowa Falls; 14 grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Lelan Barnes and one daughter, Linda Deckard; three sisters, Susan Hammond, Mildred Ketchum and Cleo Miller; and one grandson.
