Susan Elizabeth Leinbach, 39, a lawyer and editor, died on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Montgomery Hospice Casey House after a 2 year battle with colon cancer. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 20, at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Bruth officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service. She was buried next to her fraternal grandparents, Dr. Samuel P. Leinbach, Sr. and Mildred Leinbach in the family plot in Belmond.
Susan Elizabeth Leinbach was born on November 28, 1966 in Des Moines, the daughter of Samuel Leinbach, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia and Julia Anne "Nancy" Chambers of Winchester, currently of Port Angeles, Washington. She was baptized in the Methodist Chruch in Belmond. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia where she was an Echols Scholar. She received a Juris Doctorate degree from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University, while working for the law firm of Arnold and Porter, Washington, D.C. She received recognition from the Catholic University Law Review, where she was an editorial assistant for literary achievements and distinguished service. She received the Law School Alumni Society Award for academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities and dedication to the Law School and community. Susan resided in Bethesda. Maryland and was employed as a legal editor for LexisNexis Academic & Library Solutions. She was a member of the Maryland State Bar Association.
Along with her parents, she is survived by step-parents, Patricia Leinbach and Dr. B.N. Chambers; brother-in-law, Samuel Leinbach III and sister-in-law, Sara Leinbach; step-sister, Myra A. Chambers; step-brother, William Chambers; and her partner, Douglas Ian Spencer of Berkshire, England.
