Edna Eccles died November 15, 2001 in Portland, Oregon at the Welcome-Home Family Care Center, where she was residing. The care center is operated by her grandchildren, Diane Eccles and Daniel Schmitz. A family service was held November 19, 2001, before cremation. Memorial services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond, Saturday, June 22, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Lowell Halverson officiating. Burial will be at the Belmond Cemetery.

Edna Alma Draves was born September 5, 1912, on a farm near Dows, to Emma Louise (Jorges) and Edward Ferdinand Draves. She received her education in the Hanlontown and Rowan school districts. Edna married Glen A. Eccles on August 22, 1931. The family moved to Belmond in 1940. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, St. John Ladies Aid Society, the Senior Citizens Club, she served as a den mother for many years, and actively supported Scouting. She liked to paint pictures, build furniture, create needlework and she enjoyed her flower garden, music, and dancing.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Glen A. Eccles; one son, Kenneth L. Eccles; a grandson, Jason Eccles; a great-grandchild, Elizabeth Eccles; and five brothers, Arthur, Carl, Clarence, Harry and Anton Draves. Survivors are two daughters, Margaret Eccles of Portland, Oregon, and Betty Rath of North Liberty, Iowa; four sons, Edward of Spokane, Washington, Stanley of Roseburg, Oregon, Cecil of Tucson, Arizona, and Dennis of Portland, Oregon; 36 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
