Veva Jessie White, 94, died April 2, 2002 at her home in Dows. Funeral services were held April 8, at the Dows Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tony Hershey officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Veva was born May 5, 1907 in Dows to Clarence Hill and Mildred Bates. She graduated from Rowan High School. On December 12, 1928, Veva and Clifford White were married. They owned a hardware store. Veva was a member of the Dows Presbyterian Church.
Veva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Delbert, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include three daughters: Kathleen (Elmer) Kraft, Oregon, Illinois; Audrey (Robert) Krukow, Dows; Connie (Carl) Durham, Rock Island, Illinois: two brothers: Clair Hill, Dows and Art (Ilene) Hill, Iowa Falls; three sisters: Lavone Morris, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Mildred Pepper, Ames and Evelyn Boyington, State Center; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
