Frances A. Vestweber, 98, Belmond, died January 20, 2002 at the Belmond Care Center. Services were held January 24 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond with burial in the Alexander Cemetery.
Frances Alberta was born September 23, 1903 in Belmond, the daughter of John and Otilla Farman Baker. She graduated from Belmond High School and received her "normal training" at the college Cedar Falls. She then taught school in Thornton. She married William C. Vestweber, Jr. on June 4 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota. They lived in Belmond, then farmed near Alexander, and then retired to Belmond. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, daughter, Phyllis Oxley in 2000, five brothers, Glenn, Guy, Ralph, Max and John and two sisters, Blanche and Mabel. Survivors include daughter, Joye Ostendorf of Meservey, son, Wayne and wife, Mariane Vestweber of McAllen, Texas, and ten grandchildren.
