Myrtle Moss, 83, of Clarion, died Saturday, October 6, 2001 at USA Health Care Center, Clarion, where she had resided since March of 1992. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 9th at Holmes Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Rothfusz officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in Holmes Cemetery. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements. Myrtle Johnson was born April 19, 1918, in Minerva (Marshall County), the daughter of David Aron and Lena Rogers Johnson. During her youth she moved frequently and attended many schools, including schools in Albia, an Indian reservation in Grand Coulee, Washington; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Clarion. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1936. Myrtle worked at a grocery store in Eagle Grove and an airplane factory in Minneapolis, Minnesota during the war. Myrtle married Martin Moss on December 23, 1943, in Des Moines. She and Martin farmed in the Eagle Grove, Holmes, and Clarion areas until 1976. To this union, three daughters were born; Karen, Margaret and Loretta. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin on May 29, 1994; daughter, Karen on May 31, 1986; two brothers and two sisters. Myrtle is survived by two daughters, Loretta Krahling and husband, Bill of Forest City, Margaret Askelsen and husband, Harlan of Clarion; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
