Ardys Helen (Newhouse) Nauman Brush

NORTHWOOD [IOWA] - Ardys Helen (Nauman) Brush, 92, Northwood, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service for Ardys will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, 4108 Killdeer Ave., rural Kensett, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating.

Burial will be in the LeRoy Cemetery in LeRoy, Minn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

Ardys Helen Brush was born on April 21, 1918, in McIntire, the daughter of Paul and Anna ( Julius) Newhouse.

She attended grade school in Bailey, and graduated from LeRoy, Minn., High School. Ardys also attended a secretarial college in Mankato, Minn.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Nauman on Feb. 2, 1939, in LeRoy, Minn. He preceded her in death in June of 1977.

Ardys owned and operated the Thrift Shop in Lime Springs for a number of years, and also was the secretary to the principle in the Riceville Community Schools for many years until her retirement.

She was united in marriage to Bernard Brush in November of 1987. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2009.

Ardys enjoyed singing, reading, flowers, and playing cards, but her greatest love and enjoyment was her family.
She was a member of the Northwood Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra Young of Reno, Nev., Carol (Wayne) Austin of Northwood, and Douglas (Susan) Nauman of Wilton; two step-children, Nancy (Leonard) Helfrich of Loveland, Colo., and Glenn Brush of Lamoni; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; her sister, Mary McFarlane of Puyallup, Wash.; her half-sister, Pamela Lundt of Alcester, S.D.; as well as several nieces, nephews, many other extended family members and friends.

Ardys was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, Raymond Nauman and Bernard Brush, two brothers, Mayo and Charles Newhouse, and a sister, Thera Newhouse.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements
