Betty Jean Ouverson, 76, of Fertile, died on Tuesday (Dec. 20, 2005) at her home.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Fertile with Pastor Curt Gallmeyer officiating. Burial will be at Grant Center Cemetery in rural Clear Lake. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St. in Forest City, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Betty Brackey Ouverson was born in Aurora, Mo., the daughter of Selmer and Irene (Ballard) Brackey on Sept. 21, 1929. The family moved to Bristol in Worth County, Iowa, when she was 6 months old. She attended Bristol No. 3 school for 8 years then graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1948. She attended Waldorf College one year.

In 1949, she married Robert Ouverson at Lake Mills Lutheran Church. They farmed for 56 years at Fertile, Iowa.

She loved to sew, garden, and provide for her husband, children and grandchildren.

Those left to remember her are her husband, Robert W. Ouverson; siblings, Earl Brackey of Manly, James Brackey of Omaha, Neb., Mary Lechman of Lancaster, Calif., and Robert Brackey of St. Paul, Minn.; children, Bruce (Mara) Ouverson of Mason City, Lisa (Rod) Nielsen of La Porte, Ind., Brian (Roberta) Ouverson of Fertile, and Cynthia (Charles) Taft of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Tony Funk, Rachel Nielsen, Joseph Funk, Bethany Nielsen, Sarah Taft, Emily Ouverson, Elizabeth Ouverson, Lydia Ouverson, Katelyn Ouverson, and Amelia Ouverson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
