Almine A. Grosland, 92, of Sheffield, formerly of Kensett, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2005) at Sheffield Care Center in Sheffield. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 8, 2005) at Bethany Lutheran Church, 600 Fifth St. in Kensett, with the Rev. Clarence Baalson officiating. Burial will be in the Kensett Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Almine A. Grosland Memorial Fund.

Almine A. Grosland was born in Sexton, Iowa, on Feb. 10, 1912, the daughter of Carl and Johanna (Bey) Petersen. She was one of 10 children. Almine was united in marriage to Albert Doyscher, to this union three children were born. In 1934, Albert died, which left her to find work in Chicago to support their three children.

She married Henry Sorensen in 1938 and made her home in Coulter, where she started her career with the United States Postal Service. Following Henry's death, Almine returned to Kensett where she later married Marvin Grosland. To this union a son was born. She began working for the United States Postal Service in Kensett for many years.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett where she was a very active member. Almine was an active senior citizen where she was distinguished as a senior volunteer. After some health issues, Almine made her home at the Sheffield Care Center.

Almine loved gardening, crocheting, and quilting. She was quite the fisherwoman, enjoying canning pickled herring along with everything else in sight. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie (Duane) Foss, of Hampton, and Dorothy (Vale) Peter, of Roland; grandchildren, Diane Foss (Michael Miller), of Des Moines, Darsi Foss (Matt Speer), of Madison, Wis., Craig (Dawn) Peter, of Omaha, Neb., Valerie Peter, of Ankeny, Steve Imerman, Greg Imerman, Mark Imerman, Eric Imerman, Brick Imerman, Vicky Imerman, Michelle Fleet, Monica Hamilton, Melody Grosland, and several great- grandchildren; sister, Marie Ellingson, of Garner; a special friend, Joyce Peter, along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Albert Doyscher in 1934, Henry Sorensen, and Marvin Grosland in 1994, daughter Helen Imerman; son, Ensign Jon Grosland in 1986.
