Edna Mae Dimmel, 85 of Northwood, formerly of Austin, MN died Sunday morning, Feb. 27 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

She was born May 19, 1919 to Roy and Jennie (Gronseth) Schneider in Elysian, MN where she grew up and attended schools. After her marriage to Darhld Dimmel at Grace Lutheran Church in Lowell, LA on October 31, 1939, they made their home in Austin, where Edna was food manager of Austin Country Club for 15 years.

She enjoyed raising her children, loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and played golf. Edna taught herself to play the piano and organ.

Survivors include husband of 65 years, Darhld Dimmel of Northwood; one son, Dr. Donald (Karen) Dimmel of Prescott, AZ; three daughters; Judith (Larry) Jorgenson of Northwood; Daralyn Christianson of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Kathryn (Donald) Yous of Austin, TX; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 2103 Eighth St. SE, Austin with the Rev. Robert Seifert officiating. Friends may call one half prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Austin or Hospice of Northern Iowa.
