Harold G. Gasteiger, 73, of rural Plymouth, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton with the Reverend Wayne Ellingson officiating. Inurnment was at Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth. According to Harold's wishes, his body was cremated.
Harold was born September 19, 1929, at his home in rural Plymouth to Joseph and Marie (Towne) Gasteiger. He was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City and later graduated from Plymouth High School.
Harold was united in marriage to Una Mae Anderson in 1950 in Forest City. He farmed most of his life in the North Iowa area. When not working, Harold enjoyed spending time at home with his family.
Harold is survived by his wife, Una Mae, of rural Plymouth; three sons and their spouses, Gene (Florita) Gasteiger of Vallejo, CA, Ron (Diane) of St. Ansgar, and Don (Mary) Gasteiger of Marietta, CA; one daughter and her husband, Melinda (Brian) Elliott of Sultan, WA; 12 grandchildren, Genesis, Justin and his wife, Jamie, Stacy and her husband, Luke, Jared and his wife, Jessie, Autumn, Cathy, Rayna, Kala, Sapana, Caleb, Rachel and Grace Marie; seven great-grandchildren, Jewell, Jessa, Jade, Ella Mae, Faith, Casey and May; two sisters, Alvera Hanson and Alberta Dicken; and family members, Diane (Dennis) Walsh and their children, Brian and Laura.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Glenn Hanson.
