Joyce Louise Hackbart, 72, of Manly died Tuesday May 14, 2002 at the Manly Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held on Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly with the Rev. Randy Nielsen and the Rev. Rose Marie Nack officiating. Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.

Joyce Louise Hackbart was born on May 6, 1930, in Republic, KS, the daughter of George and Pearl (Stradley) Nitcher. She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, and received her elementary education in the Otranto Community School system and also attended Grafton High School before receiving her GED in 1978.

She was united in marriage to Elroy August Hackbart on July 13, 1947, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1991.

Joyce was a secretary and bookkeeper for various businesses for several years in the North Iowa area. Joyce also taught cake decorating at NIACC in Mason City.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, cake decorating, listening to music, knitting, crocheting, quilting, arts and crafts, rosemaling, calligraphy and collecting dolls, plates and souvenir spoons, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and friends.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Pearl Nitcher, of Manly; a daughter, Sharon (Chuck) Badenschier, of Rochester, MN; three sons, Marvin (Pat) Hackbart, of Mason City, Kenneth (Kathy) Hackbart, of Mason City, and Howard (Joyce Ann) Hackbart, of Grafton; nine grandchildren, James Olson, Jennifer Eckman, Nikole Matz, Michael Matz, Mike Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Kurt Hallstrom, Shannon Badenschier and Nathan Badenschier; nine great-grancchildren, Codie, Matthew, Amanda, Brooke, Jack, Reese, Trenton, Katelyn and McKenzie; a sister Maxine (Ed) Kruger, of Grafton; and two brothers, George (Cordelia) Nitcher, of Council Bluffs, and Ken (Sandra) Nitcher, of Northwood; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Besides her husband, Elroy, her father, George Nitcher; a niece, Julie Kruger, and a brother, Raymond, in childbirth, also preceded her in death.
